Details
Mevi is a small winery that has only been in operation since 2011. The San Gimignano Malbec is a homage to the town where the owner’s ancestors grew up – in Tuscany, Italy! Full bodied, yet incredibly supple, with a rich mixture of ripe red cherry, blueberry and chocolate. Lightly floral, with a delicate scent of violet, it combines elegance and power beautifully. Long, soft finish, and gentle acidity.

There must be something spectacular and special about producing high-quality wine in the shadow of the Andes mountains. Mevi S.A winery, in the heart of the Mendoza, takes something of the drama and majesty of this landscape, and puts it into their lovingly crafted wines which are quickly gaining recognition worldwide. The winery is an offshoot of another, established in 2003 by Rolando Meninato and Oscar Vignart - two passionate vintners - and Mevi S.A. was born in 2011 as a winery to reflect the very best of Argentinian wine. Both winemakers come from a technical background, with one being an agricultural engineer, and the other a chemical engineer, so here are two vintners who really know their stuff. Their meticulous eye for detail and knowledge of the land they work with are just two things which come across in the end product - fantastic, characterful, loud red wines with plenty of complexity and fascinating personalities.

Pairing guide
This beautiful Malbec is everything you could wish for from a modern Argentinian red wine, and as such, it’s perfectly poised to pair beautifully with a wide range of hearty, home-cooked dishes. As with all Malbecs, it’s a top pairing with barbecued and grilled red meats, especially when topped with a generous portion of Cheddar or blue cheese. It’s also going to go very nicely with herb-crusted lamb (or indeed a classic lamb and mint combo), and pairs well with wild rice and roasted veggies. This wine is also a good match for cumin, so don’t be shy with your spices!
