Details
Juicy and ripe, this Tempranillo blend boasts a slither of Garnacha (Grenache) in the mix. It's plump and ripe with lovely sour cherry notes from top to bottom. A great BBQ wine!
Origin: Rioja, in central-northern Spain. Mainly Grown In: All over Spain and a bit in Australia. Key Facts: Imagine taking the classic variety Tempranillo darkening the fruit spectrum and polishing off some of the rustic edges. Making it whip-smart, tightening things up and making it into a flashy young thing. That's essentially what these blends are - they have the soul of Tempranillo, but they set off on a different path, a path that is equally delicious, just a little bit different. Loads of spicy, berry-fruit muskiness here, tied up with mouth-filling tannins. Sometimes richer, sometimes lighter, always good drinking. Fun Fact: Tempranillo goes by a number of names. In some regions in Spain, it is known as ‘Tinta de Toro’ or ‘Tinta País’.

Pairing guide
A good bottle of Tempranillo from its spiritual home in Spain’s Rioja region is always going to be a hard one to beat. This bold and beautiful red from Vina Adela ticks all the right boxes as far as we’re concerned, and when it comes to food pairing, its depth of flavour really allows you to ramp up those punchy, satisfying combos. Our favourite match would be an umami-bomb of a Mexican casserole, packed full of chicken thigh fillets and kidney beans. However, you’d get equally good results with a classic chilli con carne or mole dish, or ragu sauces, lentil hotpots, cheese and sage polenta sides, braised chorizo tapas or roast leg of lamb. What’s not to love?

Wine region
Castilla-La Mancha, Spain
La Mancha is a wine region in Spain known for its hot and dry climate, high altitude vineyards, and significant grape production the top sub-regions are Almansa, Jumilla, and Manchuela, each with its own unique wine styles. The terroir across these regions can be characterized by the high chalk content of its soil, which helps to retain moisture during the arid summers. The top wine styles produced in La Mancha are primarily red wines made from the Tempranillo grape, including the well-known Crianza and the top tier Reserva styles, as well as Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. However, the region also produces some white wines made from the fruity Airen grape, which is a native varietal of La Mancha and one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the world.
