Details
Trincadeira blends with Syrah and Tempranillo (known as Aragonês in southern Portugal) in this delicious red blend. Expect lovely sweet fruit on the nose, with notes of fruit cake, smoke and anise. Ripe tannins are cut by really fresh, clean acidity, making this a joy to drink!
Terras do Sado is a renowned winery located in the Setúbal Peninsula, a region known for its rich wine tradition in Portugal, just south of Lisbon. This winery benefits from the unique terroir of the Sado River region, where the climate is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, providing ideal conditions for grape cultivation. The winery produces a variety of wines, including whites, reds, and rosés, made from both indigenous and international grape varieties. One of the standout wines from Terras do Sado (much like many of the producers in this region) is their Moscatel de Setúbal, a fortified wine that showcases the region's expertise in sweet wine production. This wine, made from Muscat grapes, is characterised by its aromatic intensity, rich flavours, and balanced sweetness, making it a favourite among wine enthusiasts the world over. Terras do Sado's portfolio moves through the gears beautifully, we loved their entry range when tasting them back in early 2024, these are wines of precision that faithfully showcase the grapes from which they are made. Stepping it up, some of their oak-aged expressions are also total knockout wines as well. These are brand new to Good Pair Days, and the UK market!

Pairing guide
We just can’t get enough of this characterful Trincadeira blend from Portugal’s peerless Terras do Sado winery, showcasing the very best of the terroir south of the nation’s capital. Blended to perfection and exhibiting a truly irresistible array of flavours, it’s a wonderful wine to pair with Iberian-inspired dishes ranging from spice-rubbed chicken thighs to meaty paella, braised chorizo, pork and red pepper casserole, and stews with plenty of lentils and root vegetables. It’s also a great wine for a Christmas dinner featuring roast beef or chicken with gravy, and will pair very well with hearty starters of pan-roasted duck breast, chicken livers and black pudding.

Setubal vineyards are treated to a warm Mediterranean climate and a combination of clay and limestone soils, all ideal for growing grapes. While the sandy soils of the Setubal Peninsula, which produce fresh and aromatic Arinto, Fernão Pires, and Antão Vaz. Setubal’s repertoire also includes Moscatel de Setubal, which is made from fortified Muscat grape (Muscat of Alexandria). Moscatel de Setubal is known for its rich amber colour, complex aromas of dried fruits, honey, and spices, and a characteristic sweetness on the palate. A bit of an after-dinner treat!
