Details
This is a fizz that shows complexity far beyond its price point. Made form 100% Chenin Blanc (per Vouvray), this wine is full of ripe citrus character. With 18 months ageing on its lees (yeast) in the bottle, following a portion of the wine being oak-aged before that, we are in love with that subtle honeyed note from top to bottom. A triumph.

Born and raised in Vouvray, Sébastien Brunet knows the lay of the land around his vines as well as anyone, and since taking over his family domaine in 2006, he has taken things to a new level, and really become a figurehead for the new style of Vouvray - drier, cleaner and working with more natural methods. For four generations, Sébastien’s ancestors have been working this land, however, they didn't make the most of the fruits of their labour - selling the grapes to other winemakers. In 1974, when Sébastien’s father, Michel, inherited the property, this began to change, and that change has only accelerated with Seb in charge. He is a quiet person, a thoughtful winemaker who lets his wines do the talking. Each year the quality improves and he produces chiselled, fresh, mouthwatering Chenin Blancs. The regularity of quality here is seriously impressive, he doesn't put a foot wrong!

Pairing guide
Top sparkling wines are as fascinating as they are delicious. This wine, yet another from the brilliant Sebastien Brunet, is going to pair brilliantly with turkey sandwiches, pulled pork and loaded beef, chicken or pork tacos, as well as with Moroccan-inspired treats such as vegetable tagine or lamb with pomegranate. It’s also a surprisingly good match for barbecued sardines, shell fish and it’s a great choice for pairing with hard cheeses.
