Details
Taut and lean, this is quite a sharp Riesling - dare we say it verging on 'Clare Valley' dry? But it's from the Riverland of course, so that acid is dialled down a little. Still, it's loaded with flavours of tangy citrus, lots of green apple, and plenty of chalk on the finish. Edgy and bright, this is oh-so refreshing and easy to drink.

Good things come to those who wait and for sure Ashley & Holly Ratcliff, the couple behind Ricca Terra have spent some time to create their own wines. During decades of work in the Industry, Ashley picked up the Best Viticulturist award one year. So basically if you’re a grape in Australia you want to be grown by Ashley. With an eye for sustainability the couple have planted and purchased in Barmera in South Australia. The Riverland is an area that gets lots of sun but not much rain; many of the vineyards are irrigated heavily. With pressure on water supply in Australia they have identified grapes that work best in warmer, mediterranean climates that demand less water. Plantings of Nero d’Avola, Vermentino and so on are planted over their ten different sites to create their unique and interesting wines. Understanding of climate and marrying the vineyards to the best possible grape varieties while reducing water demand they hope to create some of the best vineyards in Australia.

Pairing guide
We can’t help but get excited about this brisk and beautiful Riesling wine from Ricca Terra, which packs in plenty of flavour alongside a stunning set of food-friendly credentials. It’s a fantastic wine to pair with Southeast Asian cuisine - everything from your favourite chicken satay dish to tofu green curries, pad thai noodles and Goan prawns will hit the spot perfectly. Chicken and turkey salads, pork escalopes, herbed potato salads, green vegetables like snow peas and beans, and grilled chicken breast will also work brilliantly with this wine.

Wine region
Riverland, Australia
Located in the heart of South Australia, the Riverland wine region is a tropical paradise for wine lovers. The region was formerly known for its traditional wines, particularly Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Grenache as well as its abundance of sunshine and beautiful scenery. In the last few years it's added a raft of Mediterranean varieties to its charm - think Fiano and Nero d'Avola. The warm climate and fertile soils of the Riverland make it a perfect place for grape growing, and the wines produced there are bursting with flavour. So why not explore the wines of the Riverland and discover a new favourite?
