Details
Choc-full of dark squishy fruits like mulberry and plum, it adds layers of complexity through flavours like sweet peppers, tobacco and bay leaf. Supple tannins and a juicy finish mean this red is an instant favourite.

Good things come to those who wait and for sure Ashley & Holly Ratcliff, the couple behind Ricca Terra have spent some time to create their own wines. During decades of work in the Industry, Ashley picked up the Best Viticulturist award one year. So basically if you’re a grape in Australia you want to be grown by Ashley. With an eye for sustainability the couple have planted and purchased in Barmera in South Australia. The Riverland is an area that gets lots of sun but not much rain; many of the vineyards are irrigated heavily. With pressure on water supply in Australia they have identified grapes that work best in warmer, mediterranean climates that demand less water. Plantings of Nero d’Avola, Vermentino and so on are planted over their ten different sites to create their unique and interesting wines. Understanding of climate and marrying the vineyards to the best possible grape varieties while reducing water demand they hope to create some of the best vineyards in Australia.

Pairing guide
This lovely red blend from Ricca Terra Farms really shows off what can be achieved with a handful of quality grape varietals, and a keen eye for striking a perfect balance. It’s juicy and rich, yet has a nice tannic structure to it, making this wine perfect for pairing with loads of barbecue dishes that are spot on for summer days with your mates. Ribs, rack of lamb, meat kofta kebabs and lean steaks like filet or sirloin are going to be lovely here, but it’s going to work just as well with charred vegetables, tangy cheddar cheese, and also rustic pasta dishes which bring together pancetta with courgette, aubergine, and tomatoes.

Wine region
Riverland, Australia
Located in the heart of South Australia, the Riverland wine region is a tropical paradise for wine lovers. The region was formerly known for its traditional wines, particularly Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Grenache as well as its abundance of sunshine and beautiful scenery. In the last few years it's added a raft of Mediterranean varieties to its charm - think Fiano and Nero d'Avola. The warm climate and fertile soils of the Riverland make it a perfect place for grape growing, and the wines produced there are bursting with flavour. So why not explore the wines of the Riverland and discover a new favourite?
