Details
Made from a blend of Touriga Nacional (Portugal's premier grape) and Castelão (a prominent grape from Tejo). This is made in a light and modern style, not unlike the famous rosés of Provence. Notes of ripe red fruit and watermelon present themselves from top to bottom. This is lean and crisp, and a real winner for lovers of top quality pale rosé.
Quinta do Casal Branco is a brand new addition for us here at Good Pair Days and an impressive producer discovered back in 2023 during a trip out to Portugal in search of vinous gold. Impressed by the wines from the Tejo region - a true up-and-coming part of the country - this is the land of the Fernão Pires and Castelão grapes, both of which are indigenous to the region. The Tejo is a remarkable terroir, with vineyards formed largely from old riverbeds made up of sandy-stony soils. The team at Quinta do Casal Branco are a traditional one for sure. The 18th-century estate is stunning, with around 128 hectares under vine, cultivating a host of grape varieties with the aforementioned, plus Syrah leading the way. We are delighted to have finally landed these wines, they are certainly not to be missed!

Pairing guide
We love a good glass of rosé wine with our dinner, and this beautiful bottle from Quinta do Casal hits all the right spots with its brightness and balance. It would be wonderful with all kinds of Portuguese and Spanish light bites and tapas dishes - especially ham and cheese combos, grilled sardines and seafood rice. However it’s every bit as good with a chicken and bean stew, Tex-Mex dishes with spicy pork or a vegan meat replacement, and salty cheeses and ingredients like green olives and capers.
