Oh boy, Primitivo doesn't get much better than Lirica! The complex nose comprises baked red cherry, tobacco, earth and balsamic notes. Medium-bodied, this is less of an extracted, ballsy style of Primitivo, but instead, this wine displays etched, powdery tannins, restraint on the mid-palate and a wonderful rusticity. This part of the world is famous for Primitivo and the region is one of Italy’s biggest success stories. Enter Produttori Di Manduria; a quality-based wine cooperative that has been hard at work for over 40 years on its mission to find and produce the very best possible expressions of the Primitivo grape variety. Many of Produttori's finest wines come from old 50+ year-old bush vines, revered for their concentration and characterful balsamic quality. On the white side of the spectrum, Produttori Di Manduria also produces fine mineral-driven wines made from Fiano and Verdeca, however, the team have made it no secret that they have nailed their colours firmly to the Primitivo mast. Their 'Lirica' wine has recently won the famous 'Tre Bicchieri' award from Gambero Rosso - Italy's most prestigious wine award.
