Details
A complex Cabernet Franc from Australia's Adelaide Hills, a haven for diversity and innovation. This Cab Franc perhaps displays a little less of the green leafiness you might expect from the varietal, in its place we have a medley of mulberry, red cherry, green strawberry with a lick of cedar, graphite and liquorice. There's an attractive, slightly wild edge to this with a lovely aromatic lift. The acidity is fresh, and balances out a chalky, ripe grippy set of tannins. A pure, and focused expression of Cabernet Franc.

The Barossa Valley is widely regarded as Australia’s leading wine region, and not without good reason. With its temperate climate and astonishingly varied terroirs, it’s home to no shortage of innovative and exciting winemakers, among whom is Dave Geyer, the mastermind behind Geyer Wine Co, an operation rapidly gaining a cult-like popularity both at home and overseas. Dave is a winemaker with a mission: he discovers, revives, and maintains neglected Barossa vineyards, eking out their true potential with a signature sustainable approach and an undeniable talent for contemporary viticulture. Dedicated to letting the fruit come first and foremost in every bottle, Dave avoids all synthetic chemicals and heavy-handed intervention, putting his faith in the quality of the land and the natural essence of the grapes to shine in the glass. At Geyer Wine Co, a gentle approach with minimal handling ensures the utmost in expression, allowing Dave to truly get under the skin of some forgotten corners of Barossa, thus letting the world see the beauty and power of this remarkable region.

Pairing guide
There are plenty of good reasons why Cabernet Franc is widely regarded as one of the greatest food-pairing red wine styles of all time, and this bottle definitely lives up to the hype in this regard. Those powerful tannins and deep fruit flavours make it an ideal wine for matching with rare steak, stews and casseroles, game dishes, pies, burgers, and barbecued meats. It’s also a great pairing for strong aged cheeses, like a crumbly cheddar or vintage gouda, blue cheeses like stilton, and strongly-flavoured wild mushroom and truffle dishes. It’s also great for your festive ham dishes, too. Heavenly!

Wine region
Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
