Details
80% Sangiovese blends with 15% Malbo Gentile and 5% Merlot here, this is dense and ripe with a beautifully opulent nose. A riper and more fruit-forward expression of Sangiovese than you might expect from, say, Chianti. There is plenty to like here, with lovely natural tannins and really nice acidity.

Folicello Winery, nestled in the Modena hills of Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, is an organic dreamland for wine lovers. Founded in the ‘80s by Antonella and Marco, this small family-run estate has become a passionate producer of all things natural and organic. Known for its commitment to biodiversity and the environment, Folicello is as green as it comes. It embraces biodynamic principles, letting the land and vines work in harmony with minimal intervention. Folicello’s lineup is a vibrant showcase of the Emilia-Romagna terroir, featuring everything from sparkling Pignoletto and Lambrusco to intriguing still whites and reds. Each bottle offers a taste of sustainable winemaking, crafted with a “what you see is what you get” philosophy—no added sulfites, just pure, unfiltered goodness. Their sparkling wines, in particular, capture the fun, lively spirit of the region. With wines as fresh and genuine as the people behind them, Folicello’s creations are a refreshing dive into organic Italian winemaking at its most authentic. Cheers to keeping it real!

Pairing guide
There’s something about this Sangiovese blend from Folicello that immediately puts us in mind of bright, airy, sunny days in Italy…as such, we love serving this wine with gnocchi in buttery sauces, thick cuts of roast pork with grilled tomatoes, properly made spaghetti alla bolognese, and any dish packing in grilled red peppers. A genuine Italian classic wine, paired with the best Mediterranean fare - what could be better?

Wine region
Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Emilia-Romagna has to be one of the most important food regions in the world as the home of Parmigiano Reggiano and Balsamic Vinegar as well as Ragu or as we know it Spaghetti Bolognese. Aside from the amazing food, there is also some really decent wine to go with it! Known for producing delicious red wines like Lambrusco and Pignoletto as well as Sangiovese as well as white wines like Albana, this region has a unique climate that allows grapes to ripen perfectly. So when you next head to Bologna, make sure you enjoy all of the local produce!
