Details
Hailing from schist vineyards, this is an experimental Grenache, picked early (10% abv) displaying attractive blueberry and wild strawberry notes, complete with a slither of black pepper and herbal quality. The acid is expectedly firm and high, and the tannins are ripe, countering the spine of freshness from top to bottom.
Domaine des Enfants, nestled in the rugged terrain of Maury, in France's Roussillon region, is a beacon of artisanal winemaking. Established in 2006 by Marcel Bühler and Carrie Sumner, this small-scale winery has garnered widespread acclaim for its commitment to crafting wines of exceptional quality and character. At Domaine des Enfants, the focus is on organic and biodynamic practices, with a deep respect for the land and its natural rhythms. The vineyards, scattered across steep hillsides and rocky soils, are home to a diverse array of grape varieties, including Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah, among others. Each bottle of Domaine des Enfants wine is a testament to the unique terroir of Maury, expressing the region's rugged beauty and distinctive flavours. From vibrant and mineral-driven reds to taut whites, the wines are a reflection of the passion and dedication of the winemaking team. Pairing guide
A good bottle of Grenache is always a welcome sight at our dining table, and we’re pretty confident you feel the same. This release from Domaine des Enfants does a marvellous job of showcasing its biodynamic Roussillon terroir, packing in mountains of expression alongside that deeply satisfying red fruit flavour. As for food pairing, this wine is best served with rustic slow-cooked fare; we’re talking lamb legs in a rich gravy - the meat falling from the bone - as well as pork knuckle stews, pulled brisket rolls, or a sumptuous Moroccan tagine. Veggie dishes like stuffed aubergine with plenty of parmesan will work well, as will cheesy mushrooms, smoked tofu with Mediterranean vegetables, and bean burgers.
