Details
The Languedoc really is a treasure trove of goodness, and this Syrah massively over-delivers, punching well above its weight. Notes of blackberry and cherry, this is soft, supple and elegant, with a hint of pepper on the finish.

Combe Rocher is a charming winery nestled in the rolling hills of southern France, known for producing wines that capture the sunny essence of the Languedoc region. This family-run estate may not be huge, but its boutique size allows for an artisanal, hands-on approach to winemaking. "Combe" in French is a deep valley nestled among mountains. The Pays d'Oc appellation in southern France, close to the Pyrenees boasts a great diversity of these valleys, with an ideal climate for growing ripe, flavoursome fruit. Their philosophy is simple: work with nature, not against it. They believe great wine starts in the vineyard, focusing on nurturing the grapes to reflect the character of the land. The result? Beautifully expressive wines with plenty of local flair. Specialising in reds and whites made from Grenache, Syrah, and Viognier, Combe Rocher offers a range of wines that are approachable yet full of complexity. Their Grenache-based rosé, in particular, is a crowd favourite, offering bright, fresh fruit flavours with a crisp finish. Fun fact: the winery is named after the rocky slopes ("rocher") that define their vineyards, which give their wines a distinct mineral edge.

Pairing guide
You really can’t beat a glass of Syrah alongside a heaving plate of home-cooked food - there’s something about this timeless French red wine style that calls out for rustic, hearty dinners packed with winter ingredients and Mediterranean herbs. Beef and mushroom stew, ratatouille, bean and lentil hotpots, lamb tagine, goulash… if it’s slow-cooked and packed with deeply savoury flavours, it’s going to taste great with this bottle. We also recommend pairing this wine with homemade burgers, meatballs and grilled steaks and chops, especially if given depth with rosemary, thyme, sage or paprika.
