Details
This wine has a gorgeous, candy pink colouring. Lots of red cherry, citrus with a hint of pear skin. A powerful wine with texture and grip across the palate and the fruit just keeps on coming with lots of raspberry and pink grapefruit in the mouth. Well-framed, excellent structure and a long tasting finish. Quite a serious rosé, we think.

Château de Manissy dates as far back as the 17th century and was once the property of the famous Lafarge (of Burgundy) family, before it was donated to the church. Missionaries started planting their own vines at the beginning of the 20th century. The resulting wines soon gained a serious reputation for quality, led somewhat unusually by a barrel aged rosé, called Tête de Cuvée. Fast forward, and Florian Andre, a young winemaker from the Tavel region in the south of France, is upholding the noble winemaking traditions of the original estate. In 2009 he converted the entire estate to organic practice, including their wines from neighbouring appellations such as Lirac, Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. His wines are nothing short of exceptional!

Pairing guide
It was love at first sip for the GPD team and this beautiful rosé wine from Château de Manissy. Elegant yet with no shortage of interesting features, and gorgeously refreshing while still maintaining plenty of bite, it’s exactly the kind of wine we love to unwind with. As for food pairing, we adore this wine alongside fresh vegetable dishes - risottos and pilafs bursting with asparagus, peas, and beans - as well as juicy salmon fillets, barbecued sausages, lamb served mid-rare, and cured pork products. It’s a great wine for enjoying with grain or bean-based salads, and will work with almost anything featuring salty cheeses, olives, and preserved peppers and sun-dried tomato.
