Details
This wine reminds us of dark chocolate-dipped blueberries - with a savoury edge. We love the black olive, seaweed accent at work behind the scenes. The tannins are ripe, tying themselves in a knot through the mid-palate. Plush and opulent.
Origin: The first recognised wines were made in the Rhône Valley and south-eastern France. Mainly Grown In: One of the world’s leading grapes, it is found in France, Australia, the USA, Argentina and South Africa. Key Facts: Shiraz (or Syrah) is a world-beater. Starting small in the southern reaches of France, it has spread to all corners of the world and is known for producing some of the world’s great red wines, capable of perfume, power and persistence. Wines made and labelled as 'Shiraz' are luscious and fruity, loaded with plum, raisin and plenty of oaky richness. European or cooler climate expressions are often labelled as and referred to as 'Syrah', these can be more savoury and tend towards flavours of olive, black cherry and pepper. Both are equally delicious and are simply a matter of taste! Fun Fact: Though they are the same grape, when this wine is labelled a "Syrah" is often implies that the producer made it in a perfumed and elegant style. But when the wine is labelled as "Shiraz" the producer made the wine in a more decadent black fruited and chocolately style. So it's up to you if you agree with the name the producer chose!

Pairing guide
A great bottle of Shiraz is always a welcome sight at our dining table, and this release from Cape Heights showcases no shortage of delicious flavours and aromas to immerse yourself in. It’s the kind of wine that’s best served with intensely savoury and smoky flavours - Chinese barbecue, smoked belly pork, brisket and homemade burgers with smoked paprika or chorizo would work especially well. It’s also excellent with hearty black bean and lentil dishes, lamb and rosemary casserole, and family favourites like shepherd’s pie, lasagna and chilli con carne.
