Details
This is a rich and opulent red wine that's perfect for anyone who loves a full-bodied, Shiraz-style red. There are layers of ripe, dark blackberry fruit on the nose with a wonderful inky mocha, almost graphite accent. Texturally this wine is silky, glossy and smooth and it finishes on the palate with a lovely sprinkling of green peppercorn.
Bodega Las Virtudes hail from Alicante in Spain's southeast. This is such a beautiful Mediterranean landscape and a place you must visit! If you're not planning on being the next tourist, these captivating wines have the power to take you straight to them. Close your eyes and soak in the sunshine of your imagination, as you meander down the river Vinalopó that flows through the warm province. The barrel cellar alone showcases hundreds of barrels, all on display, and is in itself a tourist attraction - and one not to be missed. The beating heart of Las Virtude's collective farmers and winegrowers are responsible for some of Alicante's finest vineyards. Organically farmed, these folks are tending to land and each has a special connection to their home, the city of Villena. The collective support for the local economy has proved in difficult times throughout history, to transport valuable raw materials, such as wine grapes, into prestigious products. And not only that, they consciously preserve the landscape, in a traditional way of cultivation that is undoubtedly part of Alicante's heritage.

Pairing guide
We can’t get enough of this elegant Petit Verdot from Bodegas Las Virtudes, which packs in mountains of character alongside those irresistible, multi-layered flavours. It’s a top-notch food pairing wine, and will be very happily matched with lamb dishes of all types - chops, racks, roast legs, kofta, shawarma, salads... if it puts lamb in the spotlight, it’s going to be a great pairing. Char siu pork is another highly recommended pairing, as are beef burgers, homemade lentil burgers, meatballs, Mexican adobe, roasted Mediterranean vegetables, and family favourites like cottage pie. Nice!
