Details
80% Merlot meets 20% Mourvèdre to create the sublime Abstrait Rouge! Expect classic Merlot top notes of red plum and a touch of tomato leaf, hemmed in by a lovely, slightly liquorice-y, meaty accent from top to bottom - undoubtedly from the Mourvèdre! Well-structured and generous, we are over the moon with this wine!

The 'Abstrait' range was born out of Good Pair Days' eagerness to have a bit of fun - and make some killer wine! We have scoured the south of France in search of growers and winemakers who are as keen and (dare we say), as creative as we like to think we are! From zippy Sauvignon Blancs and Cinsault (for our rosé) to ripe and ready Grenache, we are delighted to have settled on this exclusive range of wines and we can't wait for you to get stuck into them. All three wines from the Abstrait range hail from the Languedoc, one of France's most important wine regions in terms of volume output, but with so much quality to be enjoyed at the same time. We are proud of this range, so let us know what you think! The winemaking here is pretty classical, favouring steel ferments to promote as much primary fruit as possible. All of these wines are certified vegan. Enjoy!

Pairing guide
Mmm - we absolutely loved how richly satisfying and food-friendly this plush Merlot blend from Abstrait was! It’s the kind of wine that seems to work brilliantly with a massive array of tasty dishes and ingredients, but has a particular affinity for juicy slow-cooked cuts of beef and lamb, whole roast poultry, and anything with a smoky hint to it. We tried it with homemade smoky aubergine dip (brilliant!) but it’s also going to be ace with other veggie treats like kidney bean chilli, roasted red peppers, baked sweet potato or a butternut squash curry.

Wine region
Pays d'Oc, France
Pays d'Oc is a wine region located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. It is known for producing a wide variety of wine styles, including red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. The region has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, which allows for the production of full-bodied red wines made from grape varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan. Pays d'Oc also produces aromatic white wines made from grape varieties such as Viognier and Chardonnay, as well as crisp rosé wines made from Grenache and Cinsault. The region is known for its innovative winemaking techniques and is home to a number of small, artisanal wineries but is also one of France's most important regions in terms of its output.
