Details
This wine shows the true class of Jason Schwarz. With bright, vibrant fruit drive on the nose, with a nice whole bunch driven style, this wine is seriously slurpable. With a touch of confectionery, Haribo style red fruit along with some spice and fine tannin, you could chill this down in the heat of summer or drink beside a fireplace in the depths of winter.
Jason Schwarz was doomed to be a winemaker from his childhood. Ensconced in the vineyards of South Australia, in particular Bethany in the Barossa Valley, his parents had provided the suitable environment from the very beginning. After finishing his winemaking degree, he set off to see the world and completed vintages in France, the USA and Argentina, before returning home and starting his own label in 2001. Starting off with only a two barrels of Barossa Shiraz in the first year, he followed this with a similar amount of Grenache the next. The Grenache is still made every year and is a fixture in his offerings. With great fruit sources from the beginning and a heap of guidance from some key Barossa winemaking and grape-growing icons, the wines of Schwarz deliberately try to the show off the quality of the fruit with a minimal intervention.

Pairing guide
The Grenache is an absolute classic of the red wine world, and was made with food pairing in mind. This bottle from Schwarz definitely ticks all the right boxes when it comes to bringing a big smile to the dining table, and it’s going to pair very well indeed with roast dinners (especially chicken and turkey), smoky barbecued meats, and Indian curries like rogan josh or jalfrezi. It loves the kick of Mediterranean spices - especially paprika - so feel free to serve it with a meat-based or vegetarian goulash or paprikash, or a deliciously slow-cooked tagine.
