Details
The Red Embers Cabernet is lush and ripe with aromas of blackcurrant, liquorice, tomato leaf, crisp autumn leaves and dried herbs, and has subtle, alluring notes of after-dinner choc mints and sweet spice. It’s ripe and full-bodied with mouth-filling fruit weight, and it’s powerful, but still has an elegance about it and persistence, with a long satisfying finish.

It's not every day we get to team up with an award-winning pioneer of South Australian wines to make something undeniably unique and elegant, but luckily for your taste buds and ours, we did! This Red Embers wine is a collaboration between Good Pair Days and Ben Glaetzer from Heartland Wines in Langhorne Creek. Named Qantas Young Winemaker of the Year, Robert M. Parker Jnr Wine Personality of the Year, and ‘Baron of the Barossa’ for his contribution to the Barossa Valley, Ben is the driving force behind Heartland Wines and Glaetzer Wines in the Barossa Valley. Ben’s family has been part of the Barossa and its viticulture since 1888, and Ben’s father Colin Glaetzer was a ‘Baron of the Barossa’ before him. Heartland began in the late ‘90s when Ben became excited about the outstanding grapes being grown in Langhorne Creek; this cool region with old vines had been a secret source for many of Australia’s most iconic reds. Ben is determined to shine a light on these wines and take them to the hearts of wine lovers around the world. We love that and hope you do too!

Pairing guide
Red Embers has a knack for crafting truly memorable and characterful red wines, and this bold and deeply-flavourful Cabernet Sauvignon is no exception. It’s a superb wine for your next steak night or surf ‘n’ turf dinner, and will also match up beautifully with roast leg of lamb or lamb rack, slow-cooked cuts like brisket, and almost any game or offal dish imaginable. Don’t be shy with the garlic - this wine loves garlic-tossed vegetables and bitter greens - and will also pair very nicely with wild mushroom and truffle dishes, and anything finished with plenty of strong blue cheese.

Wine region
Langhorne Creek, Australia
The Langhorne Creek is a wine region in South Australia that is best known for its rich, full-bodied red wines such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The region has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters, and a cooling influence from nearby Lake Alexandrina which helps moderate the temperature. All of which makes this region ideal for producing high-quality and age-worthy red wines. In fact, the region is responsible for a large portion of the red grapes used in wines all over the state! The region also produces some white wines, particularly Chardonnay, but it's the red that makes up the lion's share of plantings. The region is surrounded by picturesque countryside and has a long history of grape growing and winemaking dating back to the 1850s.
