Details
Quarisa are known for their quality wines and this sparkler is a great example. Plenty of green apple and citrus notes through the palate and aroma of this wine with a dash of complexity and refreshing spritz. This is a crowd pleaser if we have ever seen one!
Origin: Australian Sparkling comes from… Australia. Don’t say we never teach you anything. Mainly Grown In: Often found in Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania... sometimes even Queensland. But never NT. Sorry. Key Facts: Australia has been making sparkling wine since the late 1800s, and some of the first bottles to be produced were actually sparkling red, a style that has stuck with us until today! In the mid 50s the production of the sparkling wines we know today really took off, and the market for it increased – in other words, people got to drinking! The style has been refined over the decades, and now Australia makes world-class sparkling wines, traditionally based on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The style is dry, with flavours of baked bread and green apple, with really lovely, juicy acidity. Great stuff. Fun Fact: Australia makes sparkling wine in many different guises - dry, sweet, rosé, sparkling red, moscato, even cloudy pet-nats! Gotta catch 'em all!

Pairing guide
The lovely citrus hit you get with sparkling wines such as this one results in real finesse, as well as some serious versatility and range when it comes to food pairing. The Johnny Q has all the characteristics required for making a great match with grilled chicken or lamb (so long as there isn’t some crazy overpowering marinade on there), but I think for maximum effect, this one’s destined for a fish dish. Grilled oily fish, like sardines, mackerel or similar, is going to be a marriage made in heaven, and it’s even going to work well with fried fish goujons, or a good old plate of fish ‘n’ chips.
