Origin: Likely France, but unconfirmed. Possibly a wild grape variety that was indigenous to multiple areas in slightly different forms. Mainly Grown In: France, New Zealand, Italy, Chile, USA, South Africa and Australia. Key Facts: If you’re a fan of a lime twist in your drinks, the smell of fresh-cut grass in the morning, and have been told you are intense or that "you sure stand out in a crowd", well, you’ve met your match. Sauvignon Blanc is an all-dials-at-max kind of grape, which means it's going to fist pump your senses with its intense (and sometimes pungent) aromas, mouth-watering freshness and a cleansing herbaceous character. As one of the most planted white grapes in the world, it’s no wonder it has claimed hearts in various styles; It can be lean and zesty when it’s from cooler climates and fuller and more tropical when grown in warmer ones. Fun Fact: Sauvignon Blanc has a French bestie, Semillon. They are famously blended together in the region of Bordeaux.

Pairing guide
We absolutely love this bright and zesty Sauvignon Blanc from Norfolk Rise. It’s fantastically food friendly and will work well with the clean flavours of green herbs, citrus and white meats and fish. Roast chicken salads, grilled or barbecued fish with a salsa verde, seafood dishes and soft cheeses like mozzarella always work well, and it’s especially good with vegetarian ingredients ranging from green salad leaves to asparagus, peas, artichokes and kale.

Wine region

Mount Benson, Australia
Mount Benson is a wine region located in the Limestone Coast in South Australia, known for producing cool climate white and red wines. The region received the effects of the Bonney Upwelling which is a current that cools the water off the coast of Mount Benson, somewhat reducing the effects of global warming in the region. There are some high quality wineries like Norfolk Rise and Cape Jaffa highlight the region's best varieties.
