Details
A modern fruit-forward Tempranillo, driven by bright, jubey fruit, lots of raspberry and bright cherry. The palate is pure, soft and very well balanced with a touch of creamy texture, followed by a spicy finish. The ultimate allrounder!
It’s hard not to get excited about the state of the Spanish wine industry right now. An amazing run of vintage years, buoyed by a youthful, re-energised set of winemakers, and global interest in this country’s remarkable wine heritage and history have all led to Spanish wine reaching ever greater heights of excellence and character. Indeed, we’ve found ourselves falling in love over and over again with some seriously impressive wines from Spain recently, such as the bottles coming out of Bodegas Mas Que Vinos - arguably one of the country’s hottest producers right now. Perfectly straddling the past and present, the classic and the contemporary, and the complex and accessible, Bodegas Mas Que Vinos beautifully demonstrates what great shape their country’s wine scene is in right now. The winery is no newcomer to the industry - it’s been running since the 1850s with the Rodriguez family at the helm. However, the new millennium called for a serious update regarding the way the winery was run (and the 90s were far from the finest decade in Spanish wine history, as most of us remember), and as such, Gonzalo Rodriguez called upon two wine-mad mates to set up a new Mas Que Vinos winery which borrowed from the ancestral operation, but which had its eyes set firmly on the future. Together, the three amigos set about established new vineyards and improving the old ones and producing modern Spanish wine from the amazing native grape varietals which flourish on their sun-baked land. Their first vintage was met with a flurry of interest, a handful of awards, and an army of dedicated fans who - like us - couldn’t be happier with the results.

Pairing guide
Tempranillo, the signature grape of Spain’s most iconic wine regions, has to be one of the greatest food-pairing red wines out there. This wine from Mas Que Vino does the trick beautifully, and pairs so well with the kind of rustic, hearty, homely dishes that Northern Spain does so well. We’re talking slow-cooked pork in a rich bean stew, barbecued meats with plenty of smoke and char, and even dark meats like rabbit and wild boar, served with rice or corn. It’s also a great pairing for traditional Mexican (and non-traditional Tex-Mex) dishes too, and works brilliantly with lasagna, pizza, bolognese, and all your Italian takeaway favourites!
