Details
Made from Merlot grapes that are early picked for more freshness, this is a pale pink rosé made in a dry, crisp modern style. What we really like is that it has this lovely strawberry fruit flavour, which is just a delight. Roll up the sun lounge and pour a glass because this Clare Valley rosé is guaranteed to inject more brightness into your day!

With a wine history that dates all the way back to 1895, Koonowla is dripping with heritage. But this isn't just another old Clare Valley winery with beautiful roses (though the roses are pretty nice tbh). Under the care of Nick & Alex George, this grand property has had a makeover, with the gravity-fed winery and the old sandstone buildings lovingly restored. Wander out into the vineyards, and you can feel the mix of old and new. There are all the most famous old-school Clare Valley grapes - Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, but with upstarts like Primitivo for a wholly different flavour. Old or new, the vibe here is about intensity, especially in the reds, which are famous for big flavours and tannins for days. You want wines of heart? You've come to the right place...

Pairing guide
This beautiful pink wine from the ever-reliable Koonowla is a gorgeous addition to any al fresco lunch, barbecue or dinner party. All those soft summer fruit flavours make it a stunning pairing for medium-rare lamb dishes, turkey and ham combos, medium cheeses and charcuterie. It’s also great with more robust seafood like crab and Moreton Bay bugs, as well as with salads featuring heritage grains, pomegranate molasses and whole spices. Yum!
