Details
Alright, so this isn't a rosé in the truest form of the word (rosés are made from red grapes!) but this Pinot Gris has been macerated on its skins for a couple of days, and looks like a rosé and drinks like a savoury, complex rosé, so we're calling it a rosé, ok? Succulent, chewy and good to drink, it's a great way to drink Pinot Gris!
Jono and Damon Koerner are the innovative brothers behind this relatively new label that has been making waves across the country for a few vintages now. They grew up in the Clare Valley, but have since spent time working and studying around Australia and overseas. The Clare is their homeland, and all wines under the Koerner label come from fruit grown within a 500m radius of the Watervale area in the Clare Valley, with the majority coming from their family vineyard, Gullyview. This vineyard has been owned and managed by Christine & Anthony Koerner (aka Mum & Dad), for over 40 years. Along with these wines they also make LEKO and Brothers, companion labels that use fruit from across South Australia. Their winemaking philosophy is simple – to make wines that reflect their place in the world, wines that are made in the vineyard. Managing the grapes organically, picking them not too early, not too late, and using only those grapes and a dash of preservatives make the wines. The wines are light, fresh, textured and well structured...as well as being highly drinkable! with high drinkability. These are two brothers well worth watching!

Pairing guide
As the weather starts getting warmer, and we start being more and more compelled to dine al fresco, we can imagine this stunning rosé wine from Koerner being the one we all start craving! It’s a delicious wine for pairing with summery rice and pasta dishes - risotto with spring vegetables, spaghetti puttanesca, stuffed zucchini flowers, or tempura battered crudités will all work brilliantly. Savoury pies, quiches, and other pastries are always a great option, and pâtés, rillettes, and dips made from anchovy, eggplant, or beans and pulses will provide plenty of fascinating taste sensations here! It’s also going to be great with spicy fried Indian snacks, and will even work with bruschetta or a homemade pizza. Nice!

Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges
of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
