Details
The Jip Jip Rocks Tempranillo is sourced from the Adelaide Hills and we are glad for it with this classically made Aussie example being absolutely spot on. This wine hits all the high notes with bright cherries, Dr. Pepper Cola along with a hit of heady oak aromas of cocoa and vanilla. Like a king sized Cherry Ripe, this wine has plenty of decadence to have you content at the end of a long day.

Jip Jip Rocks produces exceptional wines from their unique vineyard in Padthaway, known for its Terra Rosa soils. Owned by the Bryson family, who have farmed the fertile land in South Australia since 1855, Jip Jip Rocks' vineyard lies on ancient mineral-rich soils, benefiting from a temperate maritime climate. Plenty of sun exposure enhances flavour, colour, and tannin development, while coastal winds cool the vines, extends ripening and results in rich, supple reds and other Limestone Coast classics. With meticulous vineyard management, Jip Jip Rocks achieves low crop yields and small, intensely flavoured grape bunches. They use technology for vine balance and vigour reduction, and harvested at full flavour development. Focused on classical wines that showcase the region's viticulture (top notch Shiraz, Cabernet and more), Jip Jip Rocks combines traditional and modern winemaking methods to etch out purity, texture, and eminent wines.

Pairing guide
A good Tempranillo is always a welcome addition to any dining table, and this characterful bottle from Jip Jip Rocks never fails to make an impact. It’s the kind of wine we love to drink alongside traditional Spanish pork and pimenton stews, Tex-Mex and Mexican favourites like chilli con carne, fajitas and mole sauces, and all kinds of meaty ragus and slow-cooked beef or lamb dishes. It’s also fantastic with corn-based recipes like polenta with garlic mushrooms, or brisket with grits. Anything with smoked paprika will work a treat, and it’s also a top choice for barbecued meats and vegetables.

Wine region
Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
