Details
You aren't going to miss this rich Victorian Shiraz. It's full of purple berry fruit flavour, with all the bold flavours just starting to soften and lighten up a bit as it matures, now introducing a nice earthen edge to all those plums. Lots of heart, and plenty of hearty life in this red!

Origin: The first recognised wines were made in the Rhône Valley and south-eastern France. Mainly Grown In: One of the world’s leading grapes, it is found in France, Australia, the USA, Argentina and South Africa. Key Facts: Shiraz is a world-beater. Starting small in the southern reaches of France (where the grape is known as Syrah), it has spread to all corners of the world, and is known for producing some of the world’s great red wines, capable of perfume, power and persistence. Local versions are luscious and fruity, loaded with plum, raisin and plenty of oaky richness. European expressions however can be more savoury and tend towards flavours of olive, black cherry and pepper. Both are equally delicious, and are simply a matter of taste! Fun Fact: There are many faces to Shiraz, but typically when grown in a cooler area, it will display more lavender and peppery notes. Where as when from a warm climate, more juicy even jammy fruit.

Pairing guide
Hera is a real favourite here at Good Pair Days, and this characterful Shiraz does a fantastic job of explaining why that’s the case. With bucket-loads of character and a deliciously deep flavour, it’s a natural pairing for smoky meats, barbecued beef, lamb, and pork, chicken thighs chargrilled and cooked in tomato-rich sauces, and bean and lentil dishes, too. Grilled aubergine and courgette will work brilliantly here, as will roasted red peppers, and anything with herbs de Provence or plenty of garlic and rosemary.
