Details
Pinot Noir is famous for dialling in a little more savoury, earthy, leafy charm, and this gentle Victorian red is all over it! Only medium-bodied, the Hera Pinot Noir has plenty of gentle strawberry fruit and a dry, tangy and earthy finish that just commands you to plonk it down on the dinner table.

Origin: Burgundy, eastern France. Mainly Grown In: France, Germany, USA, NZ, Italy, Australia, Chile. Key Facts: As a wine drinker, Pinot Noir is one smooth-talking charmer; silken texture, soft tannins, juicy acidity and as light in colour as it is on its feet. It does have a reputation however as a challenging grape to grow - it's very picky about where it is planted and can be tricky to get right. But the toil of growing it is always worth it in the end! Nothing quite compares to the splendour of Pinot Noir — packed with flavours of strawberry, warm baking spices and elegant earthiness... more is never enough. Fun Fact: In South Africa, Pinot Noir vines were crossed with Cinsault grapes and thus created a new variety called Pinotage in 1925.

Pairing guide
When it comes to food friendly red wine styles, a good Pinot Noir is always right up there with the best of them. This beautiful release from Hera ticks all the right boxes, offering delicious flavours alongside a silky, elegant body that makes it ideal for matching with some seriously tasty dishes. Lamb ragu, roast poultry, grilled eggplant, strong to medium cheeses and steak with mushroom sauce will work particularly well, and it’s also excellent with tomato pasta sauces, duck breast and all kinds of roast root vegetables. Nice!
