Details
The more structured sibling to the Sgarzon, the Morei, ‘dark’ in Trentino dialect, is a deeply coloured and exceptional example of Foradori’s single vineyard Teroldegos. This is a dense and earthy wine of minerality and floral aromas, forest berry fruit flavours and spice, with fine, dry tannins and a crunchiness of vitality. Drink now with lots of air, or hide away to cellar - if you can bear it.

Elisabetta Foradori is considered one of the most influential winemakers in the world. Her winery is situated in the cool hills of Trentino in northern Italy, and a landscape of extraordinary beauty. Her focus is on the indigenous grapes Nosiola and Teroldego, with Foradori’s examples being amidst some of the best in the world. Since 2002 Elisabetta has farmed her land using biodynamic principles, and her winemaking remains ‘natural’ with very little intervention. Today her children Emilio, Theo and Myrtha oversee the smooth running of the winery, supported by Elisabetta. Foradori wines are artisanal in the true sense of the word; naturally fermented, and aged in various vessels according to their needs: stainless steel for freshness, cement to regulate temperature, or Spanish clay tinajas (amphorae) for their energy and ability for the wine to reconnect with the earth. These wines are scarce and highly sought-after by collectors and wine lovers across the globe. They are truly unique, original wines of personality and purpose, and the Good Pair Days team is very excited to have them on board.

Pairing guide
Few red wine styles exude a sense of old-school Italian glamour quite like reds from the cool Alto Adige /Trentino region. This wine effortlessly packs in the taste of the Italian Alps, and of trattoria's and agroturismos discovered in the mountainside villages. If you’re on the lookout for vegetarian pairings for this bottle, you can’t go wrong with a platter of ripe Alps cheeses like the amazing Castelmagno or Occelli al Barolo, yet it’s also a great match for autumnal dishes featuring sweet potato, squash, and pumpkin, and will work well with antipasto dishes featuring black olives and pickled mushrooms, too.

Wine region
Trentino, Italy
Trentino is located in the north of Italy and is part of the broader wine region of Trentino- Alto Aldige. The region borders Lombardy to the west and Austria to the north. Known for producing delicious red wines like Teroldego, and white wines like Nosiola, this region has a unique alpine climate that allows grapes to ripen perfectly. The soils vary, from sandy to clay, giving the wines unique characteristics. There is also a distinctly German feel here with varieties like Müller-Thurgau grown here.
