Details
This is a rare sparkling rosé from a region that barely produces sparkling. A Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay blend, which is about as unusual in France as it is to not eat the rind of a cheese or perhaps protest in the streets. Plenty of strawberry and cherry notes with a touch of fruit cake sweetness and nutty complexity.
Fabien Castaing is a perfect example of a French winemaker who has grown up with grapes in his blood. Fabien’s family has been making wine in the Bergerac wine region since the end of the 19th century. Bergerac as a region at this time was still part of Bordeaux, however this has all changed now. The region lies inland of Bordeaux where you will find rolling hills and picturesque towns, and grossly undervalued wines that share the similar style and varieties to its big brother. The winery has two separate estates, Domaine De Moulin-Pouzy and Château Les Mailleries. Aside from making wine, Fabien also makes some extremely delicious Armagnac and Gin as well as grape juice for the kids. On the wine front, there are classic red blends made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, unique one off wines and some creative expressions of modern winemaking. We are thrilled to bring these wines to Aussie shores for the first time as well.

Pairing guide
We’ve got a real weakness here at Good Pair Days for a lovingly-crafted bottle of pink bubbly, and this blushing sparkler from Fabien Castaing is right up there with our all-time favourites. It’s a brilliant bottle for a Christmas party or any gathering of friends and food - you’ll get wonderful results pairing this one with charcuterie collections, salmon salads, prawn cocktail or homemade pork or turkey burgers. It’s also excellent with fresh tomato and olive salads, fabulous with couscous and pomegranate sides, and irresistible alongside spicy chicken skewers. What’s not to love?

Wine region

Bergerac, France
Bergerac is a wine region located in the South-West of France, just below the city of Bordeaux. The region itself is often dwarfed by that of its big brother, Bordeaux, however is still capable of producing exceptional wine. Bergerac utilises very similar grapes to that of Bordeaux, with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec all used in the blends of the region. The whites also follow the similar path with Sauvingon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle utilised. The region is located near the Dordogne River as well as the Atlantic Ocean which help provide a very maritime climate.
