Details
Sauvignon Gris is a little variation on the old favourite Sauvignon Blanc, however, this wine tastes nothing like Sauvignon Blanc. Firstly, there is a big whack of grapefruit with mineral undercurrents and a touch of spice. The wine is fresh and vibrant with citrus tones and a nice rounded texture.

Fabien Castaing is a perfect example of a French winemaker who has grown up with grapes in his blood. Fabien’s family has been making wine in the Bergerac wine region since the end of the 19th century. Bergerac as a region at this time was still part of Bordeaux, however this has all changed now. The region lies inland of Bordeaux where you will find rolling hills and picturesque towns, and grossly undervalued wines that share the similar style and varieties to its big brother. The winery has two separate estates, Domaine De Moulin-Pouzy and Château Les Mailleries. Aside from making wine, Fabien also makes some extremely delicious Armagnac and Gin as well as grape juice for the kids. On the wine front, there are classic red blends made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, unique one off wines and some creative expressions of modern winemaking. We are thrilled to bring these wines to Aussie shores for the first time as well.

Pairing guide
Sauvignon Gris is another underrated gem of the French white wine scene, but one which is rapidly gaining fans as a result of stunning releases like this one. You’ll do well to pair this wine with simple green vegetable dishes - Sauvignon Gris loves green beans, asparagus, snow peas and broccoli - as well as with spinach and ricotta combos, buttery pasta dishes, Thai curries with plenty of coriander and ginger, and grilled fish like snapper and mackerel. Soft cheeses, stuffed chicken breast and vegetable risotto will also hit the spot perfectly.

Wine region
Bergerac, France
Bergerac is a wine region located in the South-West of France, just below the city of Bordeaux. The region itself is often dwarfed by that of its big brother, Bordeaux, however is still capable of producing exceptional wine. Bergerac utilises very similar grapes to that of Bordeaux, with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec all used in the blends of the region. The whites also follow the similar path with Sauvingon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle utilised. The region is located near the Dordogne River as well as the Atlantic Ocean which help provide a very maritime climate.
