Details
Toasted nuts and hay, dried herbs and a potpourri of dried petals greet you at first sniff with this Spanish Sauvignon, then on the palate, it starts off savoury to begin with but then lovely tropical fruits flow through over the top. It’s dry but has lovely palate weight and juicy acidity in balance. Delish - it’s almost an SB for the non-SB drinkers!
In the last decade, modern Spanish winery Casa Rojo has made a name for itself internationally, thanks to its award-winning wines of exceptional quality, as well as the brilliant, colourful artistic labels and witty names. This creative spirit imbues the wines as well as the packaging; choosing to work not just in one region, but across Spain, currently producing wines from seven different areas. In each of these carefully-chosen regions, the emphasis is on native grape varieties, limited production and capturing the essence of the particular terroir. Casa Rojo was founded in 2010 by husband and wife team José Luis Gómez and Laura Muñoz, the oenologists and directors of Casa Rojo. Their passion for the world of wine led them to embark on a wine tour of Spain with the goal of representing the most important Spanish terroirs and native grape varieties. A mixture of modernity and respect for tradition informs the decision-making, and so far is being met with success and absolutely delicious wines!

Pairing guide
A fine Sauvignon Blanc is a thing of real beauty, and this bottle from Casa Rojo really delivers when it comes to that brisk freshness and tart orchard flavour. We love wines like this with simple fish dishes - just a fillet of seabass with some lemon and herbs will do very nicely indeed - and with chicken breasts grilled and served with some peppery leaves. Green vegetables like asparagus, snow peas, artichoke and green beans are always wonderful with Sauvignon Blanc, and if you can bring some goat’s cheese or ricotta into the equation, you’re onto a winner.
