Details
Quintessentially Australian in its rich colour and powerful nose. The lifted, seductive fruit stays in the sweet red fruit spectrum but it's really concentrated and deep, with eucalypt, pepper, and a vanillin 'old school' charm. These aromatics pass through on the palate & complement the soft supple tannins. A bit of raspberry jam with intensely ripe berries. This is a very luscious, rich and perfect example of classic Eden Valley Shiraz. Seductive and elegant with great balance and length. If you love a generous flavour-filled rich Shiraz, this one is for you.

Love Over Gold? Well as the name suggests...Love is an emotion that can be felt for an eternity. Gold is just material. These are wines by Barr-Eden Estate, a very high elevation property of history and splendour, nested on Mengler’s Hill, across both the Eden and Barossa Valleys, hence "Barr-Eden". A family owned property since 1862, the original homestead remained in the family until 1997. The estate are super sustainable in their approach to the land, and don't want to use tractors, so as to preserve the soils avoiding compaction. The soils are precious here. They are 550 million year old Cambrian soils, that's like, dinosaur old, with geology of metamorphosed schists, greywackes, gneisses, siltstone and shale. You think 'minerality' is only reserved for white wine? We can prove you otherwise with this wine. The Shiraz here is velvety and luxurious, purely from the mineral content of the soils. As it's slightly cooler in Eden than in the Barossa here, you get a little more delicate aromas from a slower ripening process. Silky smooth lusciousness.

Pairing guide
Barr Eden Estate have absolutely outdone themselves with this quality Shiraz, which really shows off the depth, power, and versatility of Australia’s signature grape varietal. This red wine is the perfect choice for your next barbecue, as it loves being paired with nicely charred red meats, slow-cooked cuts like brisket, and preparations like pulled pork, homemade lamb kebabs, Mexican chicken dishes, and rustic hand-shaped burgers. It’s brilliant with bean and lentil dishes, is superb with grilled eggplant, and pairs very nicely with bitter greens like kale, too. Homemade burgers of all kinds will work a treat, and it’s even good with chocolatey Mexican mole.
