Details
This is textbook delicious Malbec from the ever-talented Hervé J. Fabre displaying all of the hallmarks we look for in Argentina's darling grape variety. Expect lots of deep brooding dark fruits and plummy spice combined with notes of cocoa, coffee, vanilla and violets. Deliciously full-bodied and just perfect for the cooler months.

Arguably one of the best things about Argentina is its cultural diversity. This is a nation built on immigration and is peppered with Italian, Spanish and French influence, to name but a few. So it naturally makes sense that much of the country's winemaking has turned the heads of some of the best and brightest from Europe, after all, Malbec is originally from Bordeaux. Viñalba is no exception to this. After launching in 2007, their wines have been made by Bordeaux legend and pioneer Hervé J. Fabre. After seeing the raw potential of Mendoza's geography, he bought up some of the best vineyards and land he could find in the early 1990s and went on to establish some of Argentina's most famous wineries. Not stopping at Mendoza, Fabre also recognised the potential of Patagonia, Argentina's most southerly wine region and as a result, he set up posts to the south also under the Viñalba banner. No matter the region, all of Viñalba's wines are true, characterful expressions of their terroir and a pure joy to drink.

Pairing guide
Who could resist the bold and beautiful flavours of this charming Malbec? It’s exactly the kind of wine we crave with a big and bountiful home-cooked dinner - it will work brilliantly on steak night, with peppery Cumberland sausages, roast leg of lamb and all kinds of punchy vegetarian dishes featuring roast aubergine and other Mediterranean veggies. Barbecued chops, ribs, sausages and meat-free alternatives will work well, and it’s not half bad with a classic chilli con carne or beef burritos, either!
