Details
Langhe Nebbiolo can sometimes be a bit 'wishy-washy' and a bit of an afterthought in the shadow of Barolo. It's increasingly hard to find one that stops you in your tracks, but that's exactly what this stunner did from the talented Stefano Occhetti.
Stefano Occhetti is an exciting young winemaker from Piedmont, Italy, making waves with his elegant, terroir-driven wines. Based in the Roero region, Stefano focuses primarily on Nebbiolo, crafting wines that reflect both tradition and a fresh, contemporary approach. His philosophy centres on minimal intervention, allowing the vineyard to speak for itself. The result? Wines with bright acidity, silky tannins, and a purity of fruit that beautifully captures the unique characteristics of Roero’s sandy soils. Stefano’s deep respect for the land is evident in his commitment to sustainable practices, ensuring that every bottle reflects not just the grape, but the environment in which it’s grown. His wines are refined, approachable, and food-friendly, offering a modern expression of Piedmontese winemaking while staying true to the region’s rich heritage. Whether you're a seasoned Nebbiolo enthusiast or just discovering the joys of Piedmont, Stefano Occhetti’s wines are a must-try. With each vintage, he continues to establish himself as a name to watch in Italy’s dynamic wine scene.

Pairing guide
We love a good Nebbiolo here at Good Pair Days, and this bottle from Occhetti packs in plenty of bold flavours that give it no shortage of plush and easygoing character. It’s a real food-friendly number, too - we loved this elegant red with slow-cooked lamb or beef stews, curried chicken and tomato dishes, bean chilli and all kinds of tomato-based pasta sauces. Barbecued red meats, roast duck breast with kale and beans, sausages and mash… the list of great food pairing possibilities just goes on and on!

Wine region

Piedmont, Italy
The Piedmont wine region in Italy is a magical place known for producing world-class wines. The region is bordered by the Alps to the north and the Apennine Mountains to the south, and it is characterized by rolling hills and a diverse landscape. The climate in Piedmont is generally cool and wet, with warm, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. This climate is well-suited to grape growing offering slow and steady ripening conditions which lead to high-quality and expressive wines. Piedmont is most praised for its red wines, particularly Barolo and Barbaresco, which are made from the Nebbiolo grape. Barbera and Dolcetto are other celebrated reds of the region, and as for its white wines, Arneis, Moscato d'Asti and the rare Nascetta. Piedmont is also famous for its flavorful truffles, often used in local dishes, and pair beautiful with its regional wines.
