Details
What a great snapshot of a typical Chardonnay from Victoria in Australia. Lemongrass and mild herbal notes present themselves at first, underpinned by a lovely attractive, struck-matchstick character. Textbook Yarra Valley and very easy to tuck into.
Australia's Yarra Valley has, for a long time, been a destination for cool climate, and high-quality red and white wines made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively. The vineyards of Soumah can be found at an average elevation of 120 meters above sea level, with plots often elevated above the Valley's floor, helping to offer even fresher, crisper styles of wine. Whilst the team are keen to showcase the best of Yarra through the lens of their excellent Pinot and Chardonnay, they have also taken considerable inspiration from Italy, and also work with Nebbiolo, Brachetto and Pinot Grigio as well as the Savagnin grape under its 'Savarro' nickname. This is an award-winning range of wines, and being only an hour's drive from the bustling lights of Melbourne, Soumah provides the perfect weekend getaway for wine lovers, complete with a fabulous Italian-inspired restaurant 'Ai Fiori Trattoria', as well as boutique rooms.

Pairing guide
We can’t help ourselves - we’re head over heels in love with Chardonnay. This gorgeous release from Soumah is a fantastic example of Chardonnay from Victoria and offers some seriously tempting food pairing options. Brilliant with roast ham and pickles, delicious with creamy chicken pasta and rice dishes, and especially good with raclette, fondue and other alpine cheese-and-potato-based treats, this is a wine for comforting homemade indulgences. It’s also going to be great with roast and confit duck dishes, barbecued freshwater and sea fish and grilled pork sausages. What’s not to love?
