Details
We love the wines from SonVida. They always tend to show a bit better with some age, and this 2018 Malbec is no different, with beautiful blackberry and bramble top notes, fringed by a lovely leathery accent. The concentration on the palate is wonderful, with purity of fruit, and secondary notes of black olive and earth.

SonVida is a boutique winery located in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina, renowned for producing premium wines that capture the essence of the region's unique terroir. Founded by David and Sonia Smith in 2007, SonVida has quickly gained recognition for its commitment to quality and sustainability. The winery's vineyards, situated at an elevation of 1,100 meters, benefit from the valley's high altitude, pure mountain water, and significant temperature variations, ideal for cultivating Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. SonVida's approach combines traditional viticulture practices with modern winemaking techniques, resulting in expressive and elegant wines. Their flagship Malbec has garnered international acclaim, noted for its rich, vibrant fruit flavours and smooth, balanced finish. The winery's small production scale allows for meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that each bottle reflects the dedication and passion of its founders. Pairing guide
A good bottle of Malbec is always going to be a real crowd-pleaser of a red wine, and this is certainly true when it comes to this delicious release from SonVida. We reckon it’s a top match for dishes bringing together beef and red peppers, but it’s equally good with barbecued red meats, paprika-spiked stews like a classic goulash or stroganoff, and grilled chicken thighs with braised lentils. Game meats like venison and wild boar will make for excellent pairing partners, and it’s also fantastic with portobello mushrooms and strong cheeses.
