Details
This is a unique blend of the mighty popular Picpoul and Roussanne, the latter a grape variety commonly associated with southern France, although more in the Rhône valley. This is a bright number, with lifted citrus zest notes on the nose. The Rousanne component definitely comes into play on the palate, fleshing out the wine and giving it a lovely breadth on the finish.

The Ordinal range of wines has been expertly crafted by a passionate, skilled team based out of the south of France. These guys have one MO: to showcase the very best of southern France's vast arsenal of grape varieties, whilst trying to keep things fresh through innovative winemaking techniques and unique blends. The Picpoul grape variety quite literally translates to "lip stinger" in French, which is a tip of the hat toward its tart citrus profile and often high acidity. Picpoul has been on the rise in the last decade or so here in the UK. As consumers' thirst for crisp, refreshing wines beyond the realms of Sauvignon Blanc manifested, Picpoul was ably positioned to step in. What the Ordinal crew are doing, however, is taking classic southern French grapes such as Picpoul and the like, and blending them with other grape varieties to create truly one-off unique blends. This is an exciting range of wines and well worth a look for anybody who is keen to try something different.
