From sandy soils; this natural Cabernet Franc is outstanding, with layers of opulent black fruit, cherries and berry notes jump from the glass, interlacing with attractive tobacco leaf and stalky green character. Bags of tension and personality here. A delight.

Pairing guide
This wonderful Cabernet Franc wine - lovingly crafted in the Loire, surely this wine style’s spiritual home - is a real joy for the senses. When it comes to food pairing, all that heft and depth of flavour calls out for big, bold dishes which really pack a punch. We’re talking hanger steak with a red wine reduction, venison haunch slow-cooked with root vegetables, bean casseroles with paprika and plenty of garlic, and wild mushrooms with peppercorn sauce. Cassoulet, roast beef with gravy, beetroot soup and strong cheeses will also work very well indeed.
