Details
La Francette is a brand that Maison Johanès Boubée have put together to represent the key varieties of France, well some of them at least. This is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of blackberry and cassis along with dried herbs and tomato leaf. The wine is wrapped up nicely by chewy tannins and lengthy finish.

The French wine scene can be somewhat of a minefield at times, all we really want is a supplier that makes wines from all across the country while still displaying regional and sub-regional typicity.. Simple right?!? Well, enter Maison Johanès Boubée which is a winery that has succeeded in the French landscape, while relatively unknown outside its borders. The winery has access to all the goodies around the country and aside from an impressive winemaking team, it also has employed sommeliers to taste each wine to confirm it meets that all important terroir feel of each region. The winery is a nod to the old-school way, where you didn’t need to boast a fancy label to sell a bottle of wine and the juice inside is the most important part. We have tasted through a large range of their wines and are very impressed with the overall quality in each bottle. The La Frabcette range is sourced from the warm, sunny part of France, from Languedoc to the Rhone, where the sun shines and the grapes ripen quickly.

Pairing guide
For many of us, the festive season is when big, bold and full-bodied red wines really come into their own. This Cabernet Sauvignon from Francette truly fits the bill, and it’s a top-notch choice for Christmas dinner and all the celebration meals that typify this time of year. Roast goose, turkey, guinea fowl and duck with a rich gravy and berry-based sauces will match brilliantly with this one, and it’s also excellent with a porcini and chestnut vegetarian centrepiece, topside or beef, or leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary, too. Strong cheeses - especially stilton and gorgonzola - and truffled potato sides will also hit the spot perfectly.

Wine region
Southern France, France
Also known as the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region in the south of France is one of the largest wine-producing regions in the world. It is known for producing a wide variety of wines, including reds, whites, rosés, and sparkling wines. The region's Mediterranean climate and varied soil types, such as schist and limestone, impart distinct flavours and aromas to the grapes grown there. The area has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the Roman era, and is known for producing high-volume, high-quality wines. The most famous wines from Southern France are typically blends of indigenous grape varieties like Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre. The region is a popular destination for wine tourists, offering tastings, tours, and wine festivals.
