Details
This delightful young tawny from Krohn is brimming with ripe black and red cherry fruit that combines wonderfully with baking spice, toffee and grilled nuts on the nose. Sweet and silky-smooth on the palate, this gorgeous sweet wine is perfect for cold nights and the festive season.

Company founders Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn founded Krohn in 1865 and since then, Krohn has been considered amongst the Douro's elite port producers. Each port producer tends to have its speciality, and Krohn's stellar reputation is undoubtedly intrinsically linked to their cask-aged ports - Tawny styles. There are few closer ties to the UK wine trade than the producers of port wine, however, naturally, Krohn was initially set up as an export partner for Germany and Scandinavia, in fact, Theodor Wiese sold his stake in the business to his partner and later became a sales ambassador for the company in the north, taking the company to another level of success. Krohn is famous in particular for its legendary 1863 Colheita Tawny Port. This old wine was eventually released onto the market in 2013, coinciding with the company's acquisition by the Fladgate Partnership, who also own Taylor's Port, as well as Croft and Fonseca port houses.

Pairing guide
This elegant and deeply seductive tawny port from Krohn is a treat worth savouring, and offers no shortage of impressive and irresistible food pairing possibilities to explore. We loved it with simple treats of aged and blue cheeses, quality charcuterie and candied nuts, but it’s also going to be fantastic with homemade pate and all kinds of powerfully-flavoured canapes. For those seeking a sweet treat, pair it with a top-notch apple pie, chocolate cheesecake or creme brulee - delicious!
