Details
This is a Chardonnay that bridges the gap for those who are looking for something between a rich, dare we say oaky expression, and a lean, Chablis-esque style. Subtle pineapple notes interlace with a steely mineral character across the nose and palate. Undoubtedly 'new world' with plush tropical fruit and warmth throughout.
It’s hard to imagine, but there was once a time - and not all that long ago - that South African wines weren’t much of a big deal. However, thanks to hardworking and visionary winemakers like the Gabb family, the Cape’s fortunes and reputation as a centre of viticultural excellence has done something of a 180-degree turn over the past few decades… and the vino coming from this fascinating and varied New World country gives us plenty to shout about. Journey's End is their flagship wine label, and as always they are committed to coaxing the most flavour possible from their stunning vines. It shows the world that this pioneering SA family still have plenty of energy and enthusiasm for what they do best! The vineyards which lead to this spectacular wine are situated on the far side of Stellenbosch, where the land remains just wild enough to keep things interesting, and yet still packed with the rich and complex soils that make this such a beloved corner of the winemaking world. Using bold methods, and never shying away from controversial and surprising blends, the Gabbs keep us all guessing in the best possible way. Long may they continue!

Pairing guide
When it comes to food pairing perfection, this Chardonnay from Journey’s End has a heck of a lot to offer wine fans and gastronauts alike! Gorgeously luxurious, it’s going to pair especially well with creamy and cheesy pasta sauces, chicken, pork, and turkey pies, pastries, and creamy rice dishes, with shellfish like lobster, and smoked salmon and avocado bruch favourites. Coconut-based curries, Malaysian satay, and family classics like mac ‘n’ cheese will also hit the spot perfectly.

Wine region

Stellenbosch, South Africa
Stellenbosch is one of South Africa’s premier wine regions, located in the Western Cape, outside Cape Town. In South Africa, wine regions are known as winelands. Stellenbosch means ‘town of oaks’ and its winemaking dates back to the 17th century. The mountainous terrain, good rainfall, deep well-drained soils and diversity of terroirs make this a sought-after viticultural area. The wineland itself is known for high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay as well as the local speciality, Pinotage.
