Details
Evampelos Ghi's Assyrtiko takes on the nuttier side of this grape variety, especially with a couple of years now in the bottle. Melon notes manifest, with minerality and kerosine character. The wine sees three to six months of ageing in oak, lending aromas of pastry and custard to the mix. Elegant and balanced with savoury freshness.

Evampelos Ghi Winery, located in Central Greece, is renowned for its premium wines. Embracing sustainable practices, the winery focuses on showcasing the unique qualities of local grape varieties as well as more renowned ones from Greece's islands. Led by a dedicated and talented winemaking team, Evampelos Ghi combines traditional and modern techniques to produce a diverse range of wines, from crisp whites to robust reds. Visitors can enjoy tours and tastings, gaining insight into the winemaking process amidst the picturesque vineyard setting. With its commitment to quality and sustainability, Evampelos Ghi Winery continues to generate acclaim within the Greek wine industry, especially with the inroads they are making with Assrytiko, Greece's finest white grape, where it garnered its reputation for one of the finest white grapes in the world, from Santorini. On the mainland, however, it is starting to show a lot of promise thanks to producers like these guys.

Pairing guide
There’s no getting away from the fact that, over the past few years, Assyrtiko has rocketed its way comfortably towards the top of our list of all-time favourite white wine styles. They’re fabulous with the kind of fresh and satisfying dishes we love so much - salads featuring feta, lime and corn, homemade hummus and dips of green peas or broad beans, spinach and filo pies, prawns and other seafood cooked simply over coals… the list of great matches just goes on and on. If all else fails, just toast a few pittas and serve with some medium-strength cheese and a splash of great olive oil - it’s a tough one to beat!
