Details
This is a pretty serious bit of kit. It is a wine that gives us a clear vision of the direction that Héritage are heading in. Brimming with sweet black berry and black cherry fruit that marry up invitingly against a sweet, spicy vanilla. Rich and velvety with lots of freshness, the relationship between ripe, pure fruit and clear use of oak is effortless. Brilliantly executed.
Many of the wine world's history books will point towards the Middle East as the birthplace for winemaking, estimated at around 7000BC. In 1888 the Touma Family established one of the first wineries and distilleries in Lebanon. As well as wine production, they also focused on Arak, a distilled spirit that falls into the anise family (Sambuca lovers take note). The Héritage winery was established in the Bekaa Valley - the source of the majority of Lebanon’s quality wine - and released its first wines in 1997. The estate's philosophy is built across four pillars; best-in-class cultivation, learning from the past, embracing technology, and passion. The majority of Château Héritage's vines are on the slopes of Mt Lebanon above the winery. This is very much the heartland of winemaking culture in Lebanon, and the Château is now producing modern, powerful styles of wine with elegance and skill that we consider to be some of the finest in the region, and by virtue, the country.

Pairing guide
With its boldness and beauty by the absolute bucketload, this Syrah is going to elevate any mealtime into a moment of sensory bliss. When it comes to food pairing, we especially liked this flavourful red with dishes of grilled and barbecued red meats, grilled chicken thighs, homemade burgers, and anything involving the winning combo of lamb, rosemary and garlic. Aromatic Mediterranean herbs are never a bad idea with a Syrah, nor are dishes which make the most of red peppers, aubergines, courgettes, beans or lentils. Delicious!
