Details
This is a very grown-up, gorgeous expression of Pinot Grigio with bright and attractive herbal notes and a lovely subtle, sweet pear drop character that combines with honeycomb and acacia. The fruit set carries over faithfully to the palate with more of that sumptuous pear skin flavour and a chalky accent. This is a rich Pinot Grigio with weight and a mouth-coating body.

We discovered Azienda Agricola Casere on a recent trip to Italy, where we were immediately impressed by the quality of their brilliant wine portfolio which ranges from impressive varietal table wines to top-quality Prosecco from the Veneto region. The estate covers around 150 hectares of vines located in the land around San Stino di Livenza, in the province of Venice. 2022 marks the 100th birthday of Casere and a century of winemaking has taught the team a thing or two about producing quality wine in this part of the world. They have been quick to recognise the potential of more international varieties, with significant plantings of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay as well as more local varieties Pinot Grigio and Refosco (a red grape). For us, it was their textural Pinot Grigio that stole the show on the still wine side of things. However the jewel in Casere's crown is their DOCG Lison Pramaggiore made 100% from the Friulano grape variety, this DOCG is arguably the best expression of this grape.

Pairing guide
Bright, fresh and bursting with delicious fruity notes, this Pinot Grigio from Casere is right up there with our recent favourites. We loved pairing it with a crisp green salad and some lightly-seared seafood, but it’s going to be great with chicken breast dishes, grilled squid or calamari rings, a vegetable risotto or a simple dish of pasta with pesto. Barbecued prawns and veggie skewers will work a treat, and it’s also great with mozzarella dishes and other fresh cheeses.

Veneto, Italy
The Veneto wine region is located in the north-east of Italy and is known for producing some of the most distinct wines in Italy. The region has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The broader region is home to three DOCG and twenty three DOC wine regions and produces iconic wines like Prosecco, Soave and Amarone. The region is the third largest in Italy and accounts for the bulk of Prosecco production in the world.
