Details
This grape just gets better and better in our books! This is pale in the glass with green flecks. Attractive citrus notes at first, moving into stone fruit with some time in the glass. This is quite full and weight on the palate, with hints of wildflowers. A quietly powerful white wine with good concentration and intensity.
Anastasia Fragou Winery is a delightful, small-scale winery located in Attica, north of Athens, Greece. Founded by the passionate Anastasia Fragou, this boutique winery is all about quality over quantity. With just a few carefully cultivated hectares, Anastasia and her team produce limited batches of wine that truly capture the spirit of the region. Anastasia’s winemaking philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for tradition and the environment. She’s all about letting the grapes do the talking. The winery is especially known for its charming Malagousia—a white wine that’s a true showstopper with its vibrant citrus and floral notes - as well as an increasing focus on the Savatiano. This is a new winery to Good Pair Days, and to the UK market; a gem discovered by our wine team during a trip to Central Greece in January 2024. Anastasia Fragou's Winery was tragically caught in a fire in recent years, devastating all her tanks and equipment. Despite this, Fragou and the team have pushed forward and managed to maintain the production and crucially, high quality of their wines throughout.

Pairing guide
Savatiano wines are having something of a moment this year, and we say it’s long overdue. This beautifully vibrant and refreshing bottle is ideal for a wide range of zesty and spicy dishes - we’re talking smacked cucumber salads, Thai noodle dishes with plenty of lime, coriander and chilli, pork or fish tacos and Greek salads with salty feta. Simple grilled chicken breasts with a lemon dressing, sushi and other raw fish preparations, seafood salads and prawns with a spicy marinade, and dressed crab with green salad will also work a treat.
