Sparkling Wines of the World
Pragustus Blanco Sparkling NV
White frizzante from Spain. Champagne gets all the attention, but there's so much more to the world of sparkling than that. In fact, there are four main methods of production for sparkling wine, each producing slightly different styles and flavours. The Pragustus team have produced a delightful white sparkling with the aim of the game to be fun and easy to drink. With delicate floral tones, citrus and green apple edges, this works at either end of the celebrations.
Las Niñas Sparkling Chardonnay NV
Blanc de blancs from Chile. Les Grands Chais is a company that is based in France although they have arms that spread across the modern world with wineries in operation in Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Argentina as well as mainland Europe. Their approach is to source exceptional fruit and make modern styles of wines that will be well received. The Good Pair Days wine team were impressed with their Chilean brands, Casa Bollén and Viña Las Niñas as well as the sparkling wines from Baron D’Arignac. Las Niñas is a premium sparkling wine from Chile that stands out as an exceptional wine when you have the need to pop some fizz. With some complex toasty and creamy notes to start, this wine comes into its own with citrus and nectarine notes. A lovely balanced sparkling with plenty of complexity, which is also high on the delicious scale.
Quinta do Casal Branco 'Monge' NV
Premium sparkling from Portugal. Quinta do Casal Branco is a brand new addition for us here at Good Pair Days and an impressive producer discovered back in 2023 during a trip out to Portugal in search of vinous gold. Impressed by the wines from the Tejo region - a true up-and-coming part of the country - this is the land of the Fernão Pires and Castelão grapes, both of which are indigenous to the region. This is a fine sparkling wine from the Tejo, and a fantastic answer to Cava or Champagne. Classically structured with notes of almond and candied citrus character overlaps with toast and brioche.
