Details
A wine that blends old vine Chenin from Swartland and Stellenbosch, and with wonderful results. Leads with some smoky struck-match reduction before pear, peach, dried herbs and some earthiness all kick in. The palate possesses impressive structure – concentrated fruit, punchy acidity and just a little grip to the finish. Great stuff.
Lukas Van Loggerenberg is, without doubt, one of the hottest names in South African wine. Despite growing up around wine – in the Breedekloof Valley – and studying viticulture and oenology at Elsenburg, he nearly became a doctor! The defining moment in his wine journey occurred in France, where at Domaine de La Chevalerie in the Loire Valley, winemaker Stephanie Caslot opened a 1989 Cabernet Franc that took his breath away. Right there Lukas decided to start his own wine label! Lucky for us he did. Van Loggerenberg is only on his 4th vintage, but already his name is being mentioned across the globe. His wines are produced using fruits from some of the best vineyards in the Cape, farmed by talented and passionate farmers. The Loire Valley still shines bright in his wines, with fresh acidity and purity a hallmark of the range. All the wines are made without added yeast or acid, and express pure fruit and wonderful texture as naturally as possible. We're thrilled to be able to bring Lukas' wines to Australia - we are confident in the not too distant future he'll be regarded as one of South Africa's most important winemakers.

Pairing guide
This Chenin Blanc from Van Loggerenberg is an absolute joy to behold, and opens the doors of possibility for some absolutely gorgeous food pairings. Chenin Blanc loves a blend of sweet, sour, and savoury flavours, so dishes like pork with apple, turkey with berries, and Asian sweet-and-sour classics always tend to work well. It can handle plenty of chilli heat, too, so don’t be shy with your fiery noodle favourites, Japanese curries, and Sichuan fish. It’s also delicious with salads served with creamy dressings, or a roast pork dinner!
