Details
A lovely bright red in the glass, this is really entrancing to both look at and to smell. The nose is alive with elegant aromas of ripe plum, red cherry and an undertow of some darker spices and damp earth. There's real depth to this wine, with some heft and darkness in there that will slowly unfold into more fruit. It has sumptuous texture framed by classy French oak. Serious Pinot here.

Alex Russell is an entrepreneurial winemaker who began his winemaking journey by crafting wines from Mildura and the Riverland, using a range of so-called 'alternative' grape varieties (mostly Mediterranean influenced) to create modern and approachable wines. Since then he has expanded south, to Tasmania, where he creates more classically styled wines from Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay. From Merlot to Montepulciano, the breadth is quite astounding! His style is consistent across the range, making wines that are true to their varietal heritage and showcase the best of the local climatic conditions. Modern winemaking and attention to detail show through in the suite of precise and detailed wines. Lots to love here, with fruit to the fore and a real eye for purity.
