Details
This wine spills into the glass with Pinot Noir’s classic and coveted faint opacity — the kind that's so transparent in colour you could read a book through it — and ruby hue. The nose is an elegant bouquet of fresh wild strawberries, raspberry and earthy mushrooms. The palate is savoury and satin-like with silky tannins and acidity that makes your mouth water for another glass. This is one chic and smooth-talking Pinot.
Ah, the Adelaide Hills. We never tire of exploring the wines which come from this beautiful corner of our fair country, and we reckon you probably feel the same. After all, how could you possibly get bored of wines such as those made by Pike and Joyce, one of the most exciting and pioneering Adelaide Hills wineries which has helped put this region on the map for the past 25 years? These are wines which really do this part of Australia justice, and which have set something of a template for so many others to follow: utilising both familiar and lesser-seen grape varietals, and watching them reach new heights of character and expression in the incredible soils and climatic conditions that this region provides. Pike and Joyce was established in 1994 by two families; the Pikes from Clare Valley, and the Adelaide Hills based Joyces. Together, they purchased land on one of the highest points of the region, and made great use of the unique terroir which was spread over 25 beautiful hectares. Pike and Joyce kick-started their winery with classic Burgundy varietals, but soon started experimenting with grapes as diverse as Pinot Gris and Gruner Veltliner, achieving eye-opening results every time. Once you get a taste for what they do best, we’ve no doubt you’ll soon be checking out their extensive back catalogue. Thank us later...

Pairing guide
As everybody knows, a top bottle of Pinot Noir - like this lovely number - is the chef’s best friend when it comes to food pairing. Versatile, juicy, and delicious, it’s going to be an absolute winner with a fantastic array of meat and vegetable dishes (and even a couple of hearty fish ones, too). Pair it with duck or lamb for an absolute classic match, or bring it together with meat and tomato pasta dishes, roast fowl, beef stews, or barbecued burgers and sausages. Want to avoid meat with your Pinot Noir? This bottle will also match very well with portabello mushrooms, stuffed peppers and tomatoes, and all kinds of veggie antipasti.

Wine region

Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges
of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
