Details
This beautiful sake is characterised by a smooth, light taste, almost echoing the wonderful print on the front label! It is definitely in a fruitier style - it has the elegant sweetness of lychee, and a slight grapefruit flavour. Both gentle and persistent in flavour, the acidity is well balanced and will suit a range of seafood or vegetarian dishes.

Nagai Shuzo is a brewery with more than 135 years of history. Located in the Gunma Prefecture, about 2 hours drive north of Tokyo, this brewery has slowly been modernising and perfecting their approach over the past few decades, building on the historical precedents of their founders. Today the operation is run by husband and wife team Matsumi and Noriyoshi Nagai - the 6th generation of the Nagai family to run the brewery! Mizubasho is brewed from water that began as snow and rainfall, then filtered slowly through the ground before being pumped up in Kawaba, a small village. In a move that shows the absolute emphasis that breweries place on the water quality, Nagai Shuzo purchased the 60ha surrounding their water source to ensure cleanliness! We've chosen to highlight the Mizubasho range of sake - a selection that sees a relatively modern approach. From the heady, mixed fruit aroma to the perfect amounts of umami and dryness, this sake is sure to satisfy.
