Details
Made with a selection of espadín and cirial agave between 6 and 14 years old, the Union Uno Joven style has all the smoky overtones of traditional mezcal, but there's a fruitiness here too that makes this such an epic margarita backbone. It also works very nicely with plenty of ice and a slice of lime (but seriously, try it in a margarita).

Bringing together more than 50 families across 20 palenques (farms), the Mezcal Union business is based on the idea of raising living standards via a fair trade model (hence the Union). The Mezcal Union business only dates back to 2011, when Pepe Bezaury, Antonio Vilches and Alejandro Champion started knocking on doors to propose a new business model for traditional agave producers. Since then, the business has risen quickly on the back of what is an affordable, authentic expression of artisan Mezcal from the villages of Oaxaca.

Pairing guide
Traditionally made from superior agave plants sourced from across Oaxaca, this beautifully sophisticated Mezcal has a delicate smoky and earthy character… making it surprisingly fitting for a range of food pairing options. We loved pairing this spirit with dishes featuring rosemary, thyme, garlic and other highly fragrant ingredients, and it’s also going to be great with smoked green vegetables, crispy kale and strong cheeses. Charcuterie and Mezcal always work well, and it’s also excellent with dishes featuring smoked chillies, mole sauces and strong dark chocolate.
